Description

This original mobile swastika belt buckle for the SA was the first pattern to be introduced and was worn with the light-brown leather belt. This one is the plain brass one. This pattern buckle was observed in a reference dated 1933 and is illustrated as the buckle worn by the SA. The buckle is 2 1/2 x 2 inches in size and is in immaculate condition (one-piece construction).

History

The SA (Sturmabteilung), also known as the Storm Detachment or Brownshirts, was a paramilitary organization in Nazi Germany. It was established in 1920 and played a significant role in the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party.

The SA adopted the swastika as its emblem, which was originally an ancient symbol with positive connotations in various cultures around the world. However, the Nazi Party appropriated the swastika and transformed it into a symbol of their ideology of racial superiority, antisemitism, and hatred. The SA used the swastika prominently on its uniforms, banners, and other insignia.
