Description
Original German Third Reich 1939 11th Nuremberg Rally Combat Games Table Medal made by the world-renowned German medal and badge maker Carl Poellath of Schrobenhausen. This huge commemorative medal was issued for the planned 11th Nuremberg Party Rally (11. Reichsparteitag) and its competitive combat and sporting events. The 1939 Nuremberg Rally was planned to take place from September 2nd to September 11th, 1939, but due to the start of World War II in Europe on September 1, 1939 (Germany invaded Poland on this day) it was immediately canceled.
The tables medals were presented on tables and gave information about the events held at the Party Rallies. The Table Medal for the 1939 Combat Games of the 11th Nuremberg Party Rally for the scheduled September 2–11, 1939, were planned to take place under the title “Reichsparteitag des Friedens” (Party Rally of Peace) but with the outbreak of war in Europe on September 1, 1939, with the invasion of Poland, the planned events were canceled.

Nuremberg Party Rallies (Reichsparteitage) – Annual Meetings of the Nazi Party. (The rallies were) The largest political event in Europe during the time of the Third Reich. (They) Included numerous demonstrations, parades, sports competitions and various ceremonies of the many organizations of the Nazi Party, as well as speeches of leading members of the party.
However, as the event was cancelled due to the outbreak of war the scheduled for 2nd September 1939 11th Nuremberg Rally never took place.
Consequently, there exist a large quantity of objects printed and made, which had been intended for distribution at the abandoned Rally, including party and sporting badges, articles and booklets.
1939 Combat Games Table Medal
Table Medals (Tafelmühden) of the Third Reich period were mostly larger than usual political pins and where made to present to people who were involved in some way with the events that the medal commemorated. In this case, the 11th Nuremberg Rally. Table Medals were usually displayed on a table or on a shelf and where made in greater detail than normal political pins.
In reference to the image the medal is referring to the 1939 Nuremberg Rally Combat Games, (Kampfspiele). These games were held under the umbrella of the physical-training and paramilitary culture of the Nazi organizations and affiliated groups.

A big plus for us is that the Medal comes with its original Presentation Case. Table Medals of this type were often handed out in special cases to be displayed on a table or shelf. These cases were often left behind by the owner and are today separated from the Medal and are a rare find for the collector.
The case holds the medal in good condition and protects it. Cased table medals are in most cases far more interesting to collectors of Third Reich political, Nuremberg Rally, sports and other commemorative items than uncased ones, and here we have a true jewel for the advanced collector.

The medal has strong relief and good definition. It has a good period look and has been well looked after to retain a good appearance for its age.
