Description
This is a genuine, collector-grade 8x10 black and white Photo of the Memphis Belle Crew, Bassingbourn, England May 17th 1943 8x10 Photograph, Signed By Pilot Robert Morgan.
The black and white photograph measures 25.5 x 20cm in size. The photograph depicts the original crew members of USAAF B-17 'Memphis Belle' which became the first heavy bomber to reach 25 daylight sorties with the 8th AAF in Europe. The crew members pose in front of the Flying Fortress at Bassingbourn on May 17th 1943. The photograph displays slight graininess while the pilot Robert Knight Morgan (1918 – 2004) signed it with ink. The crew of Morgan became the focus of two films: 'Memphis Belle: A Story of a Flying Fortress' in 1944 and a 1990 British-American production starring Matthew Modine, Eric Stoltz and Harry Connick Jr. Morgan led his crew through 26 combat missions in the B-29 Superfortress after finishing his European tour before moving to the Pacific Theatre. Excellent condition.
