History

The 1906 Navy Luger is the first full production model and all the unique features mentioned in the model 1904
were either altered or no longer included in this model. This includes the “fat barrel”, toggle lock leaf style mainspring and crown M inspection stamps. Production is divided into two variations known as the First Issue and the Second Issue. In the First Issue the safety lever is in the up position showing“GESICHERT” (“safe” in German). There were approximately 19,000 manufactured this way with the serial number range of 1 to 9,000a. later altered to safety downward. The Second Issue variation was manufactured with the safety in the downward position and the serial number range was approximately 9,000a to 998b. This information plus so much more can be found in Jan. C. Still’s IMPERIAL LUGERS.
