Description
This is an Original "All Matching" WW1 German Model 1895 Mauser Chilean Contract Rifle by Ludwig Loewe Berlin
in Excellent Condition.
History:
This is an original World War I-era German-manufactured Model 1895 Mauser Rifle, produced under contract for the Chilean military. Manufactured by Loewe Berlin or DWM (Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken) prior to or during the early stages of WWI, this rifle is a classic example of the robust Mauser bolt-action design that became a standard for militaries worldwide.
The Chilean Model 1895 is chambered in 7x57mm Mauser, a highly regarded cartridge known for its flat trajectory and manageable recoil. This example remains in all-matching condition, with serialized parts including the bolt, receiver, trigger guard, floor plate, and stock — a rare and desirable trait among collectors today.
Key features:
- Receiver marked with the Chilean crest and model designation “Modelo 1895.”
- German manufacturer markings typically found on the left receiver rail, indicating either Loewe Berlin (pre-1897) or DWM (post-1897).
- Straight bolt handle and full-length wood stock with handguard.
- Ladder-style rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters.
- Bayonet lug and cleaning rod present, standard to the contract configuration.
While Chile remained neutral during World War I, these rifles were part of earlier international arms contracts and reflect Germany’s expansive arms export program in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Though not used in German service, the 1895 Chilean Mauser stands as a testament to the global influence of German arms manufacturing during the era.
This example's excellent condition, all-matching serial numbers, and historical provenance make it a prized collector’s piece — representative of both German engineering and South American military history.
