Description:
This is an original British Mk I Dispatch Rider helmet, manufactured in 1942 by BMB (Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd.), one of the principal wartime helmet producers for the British military. These helmets were specifically designed for motorcycle couriers and dispatch riders—the brave soldiers who risked their lives carrying critical communications between commands during World War II.
Constructed from pressed steel, the helmet retains its distinctive shallow dome profile and extended brow and neck flares, providing additional protection from road debris and weather while riding. The interior features the original rubber and cork composite liner system with a leather sweatband, all stamped with “BMB 1942” and the appropriate size marking. The early war-style brown leather chinstrap with steel fittings remains intact, showing honest age and service wear.
