This World War II German Army M42 combat helmet featuring an original chicken-wire camouflage application, manufactured by ckl (Eisenhüttenwerke, Thale Harz). The M42 helmet was the final wartime evolution of the German Stahlhelm and saw extensive combat service on all fronts from 1942 through the end of the war. The addition of chicken wire was a common field modification used by German soldiers to secure foliage, burlap, camouflage material, and local vegetation to better conceal their position in combat environments.
This example retains its original combat-worn character, displaying honest field use and age.
