Description
This outstanding original WWII German Luftwaffe Artillery Visor Cap for enlisted and NCO personnel, presented in exceptionally well-preserved condition. The cap is constructed of the classic Luftwaffe blue-grey wool, which remains excellent throughout with only minor signs of age and light wear.
The distinctive artillery-red piping is fully intact, retaining its vibrant color and crisp appearance. Original aluminum Luftwaffe insignia remains firmly attached, displaying an attractive patina while retaining the majority of its original finish. The black ribbed center band is clean and free from significant wear, complementing the overall presentation of the cap.
The original black patent leather chinstrap remains in excellent condition, showing only minimal use. Likewise, the black leather visor is exceptionally well preserved, retaining its shape and finish.
The interior is lined with the original pumpkin-orange rayon, which remains in fine condition with only minor age-related wear. A partial rhomboid-shaped moisture shield is present, with the maker's details clearly visible beneath. The tan ersatz leather sweatband is in very good condition—firm, clean, and fully intact without tears or damage. Examination beneath the sweatband revealed no additional markings.
The cap is size marked 55½ and displays beautifully, making it a highly desirable example for the advanced Luftwaffe collector. Overall, this is a choice and authentic wartime visor cap that would be an excellent addition to any German WWII headgear collection.
