Description:
This is an exceptional and highly desirable original WW2 German Luftwaffe Pilot’s Badge manufactured by the prestigious Berlin maker C.E. Juncker, presented in near mint condition. Instituted by Hermann Göring on August 12, 1935, the Pilot’s Badge (Flugzeugführerabzeichen) was awarded to Luftwaffe personnel upon completion of flight training and qualification as military pilots, becoming one of the most iconic and sought-after awards of the Third Reich.
This fine Juncker-produced example displays the classic high-quality craftsmanship associated with this premier maker. Constructed in the traditional two-piece design, the badge features a beautifully detailed, silvered Luftwaffe eagle in dynamic flight clutching a mobile swastika, surrounded by a finely executed oak leaf wreath with excellent original finish. The crisp detail to the eagle’s feathers, talons, and wreath leaves demonstrates the superior die work Juncker is renowned for.
The reverse retains its correct hardware configuration with a functional pin, hinge, and catch assembly characteristic of wartime Juncker production. The badge shows outstanding preservation, retaining much of its original finish with only light age toning, and remains free from damage, repairs, or alterations. An outstanding near mint example that would be very difficult to upgrade.
C.E. Juncker of Berlin was among the most respected manufacturers of German military awards, and their Luftwaffe badges are especially prized by collectors for their sharp detailing and quality construction. This original wartime Pilot’s Badge represents an important and increasingly scarce piece of Luftwaffe history.
A superb investment-grade example, ideal for any advanced German aviation, Luftwaffe, or WW2 awards collection.
