This is an Outstanding Original WW2 German SS 8-Year Long Service Medal (SS-Dienstauszeichnung 3. Stufe), complete with its correct Cornflower Blue service ribbon, presented here in near mint condition.
Instituted by Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler on 30 January 1938, the SS Long Service Awards were created to honor years of faithful service within the Schutzstaffel. The 8-Year medal, awarded as the 3rd Class, was presented to full-time SS personnel who had completed eight years of continuous, disciplined service. These awards were produced in far smaller numbers than their Heer or Luftwaffe counterparts, making authentic surviving examples highly collectible.
