Description

This original SS-Totenkopfverbände concentration camp officer's peaked visor cap. Field gray wool with light brown Waffenfarbe piping and black velvet band. Silver bullion chinstrap suspended on prong-back button, which are stamped on the reverse "RZM 17." Lacquered pressed paper visor. Interior has gray imitation leather sweatband with forehead perforations. Liner of gray ridge weave rayon, with celluloid sweat diamond and ink stamp maker's mark of Marke Hochland. Size 56. Very Good condition. Some mothing to the piping on the back of the cap. Liner is sweat stained, discolored. Ersatz insignia have been applied to the front of the cap for appearance. Provenance: Private collection of an associate of the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.
