Description:
Offered here is an outstanding original WW2 German Luftwaffe Flak Artillery Badge by the desirable maker Hermann Aurich of Dresden, presented in excellent condition. Instituted by Hermann Göring on January 10, 1941, the Luftwaffe Flak Badge was awarded to anti-aircraft personnel for achievement, bravery, and distinguished service in the defense of Germany’s skies against enemy aircraft.
This fine original example features the classic oval oak leaf wreath surrounding a beautifully detailed 88mm Flak gun in firing position, surmounted by the Luftwaffe eagle clutching a swastika. The badge retains sharp detailing throughout, displaying excellent definition in the gun, wreath, and eagle, with much of its original finish still present.
The reverse is maker marked by Hermann Aurich, Dresden, a highly respected wartime producer known for quality award manufacture. It features the correct Aurich hardware setup with a sturdy hinge, functional pinback, and proper catch assembly. The badge shows honest age and patina consistent with an untouched original, with no signs of repair or damage.
The Luftwaffe Flak Badge was awarded for combat merit and typically required participation in anti-aircraft engagements, with points earned through successful actions against enemy aircraft or distinguished service with flak units. Badges by Hermann Aurich are well regarded among collectors for their quality strike and attractive finish.
A superb and authentic combat award displaying excellent detail, strong eye appeal, and historical significance. This excellent-condition Hermann Aurich Flak Badge would make an outstanding addition to any advanced Third Reich awards collection or Luftwaffe display.
