Description
This original WW2 German Third Reich Eastern Front Medal is presented in excellent condition, retaining strong detail and an attractive original finish. The medal features the classic design struck in zinc with a darkened gunmetal finish, with the distinctive steel helmet resting on a stick grenade motif at the top, symbolizing the German infantryman fighting in the harsh conditions of the Eastern Front.
The obverse displays a powerful national emblem consisting of the German Wehrmacht eagle clutching a swastika, with the dates “1941–42” below, commemorating the first winter of the Eastern campaign. The reverse bears the inscription “Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42” encircled by a laurel wreath, honoring those who endured the grueling winter battles.
The medal retains its original ribbon, featuring the distinctive red, white, and black color scheme symbolizing blood, snow, and mourning.
