Description
This is an original WWII German Zollgrenzschutz (Customs Border Protection) Army Soldiers Identification Tag, specifically assigned to the Hamburg region. The Zollgrenzschutz was a paramilitary border control unit operating under the German Ministry of Finance, later placed under SS jurisdiction during the war. These units were responsible for monitoring Germany’s frontiers, preventing smuggling, and maintaining border security.
The tag number is 226 and is oval-shaped, constructed of zinc, and is stamped with: “Zollgrenzschutz Hamburg” along with the soldier's unique service number and blood type.
