This WW2 Japanese 1937–1945 China Incident War Medal in original presentation case. The China Incident War Medal, Imperial Japanese military award issued to military personnel and civilians alike during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945) as part of the larger China Incident (or War).
The WW2 Japanese 1937–1945 China Incident War Medal offered here is in excellent condition and has retained all of the original details. The bronze finished medal has very good strike details and very little wear. The ribbon is also in excellent condition with strong colors and little fraying. The Medal is packaged in the original presentation case. The case has very good to excellent condition and adds greatly to the display value of the Medal as well as the overall value to the collector.

Obverse (Front)
The front of the Medal features the traditional Japanese Army and Navy flags crossed, under the Imperial Seal, the Chrysanthemum, in the center. The design is surrounded by motifs of flowers and other symbols of Nationalistic and Imperial Japanese design, found on most WW2 Awards given to the Armed Forces.
Reverse (Back)
The reverse of the Medal bears the Japanese characters for China Incident and the campaign period for which the award was given, 1937–1945. There is good detail and original patina, some light wear in places that could have been occasioned by handling over the years.
Ribbon
The Medal is issued with a silk ribbon, of the appropriate horizontal striped design for the China Incident campaign. The ribbon is in excellent condition with strong colors and minimum signs of fraying.
Presentation Case
The original medal case is in very good to excellent condition. The interior of the case still contains the special insert, made to hold the medal in the exact position it would have been in, had it been awarded and presented to the recipient in the field. The exterior of the case displays usual wear, but no serious damage.
Historical Background
The China Incident War Medal was issued by Imperial Japan to commemorate its military involvement in the war with China from 1937 until the end of WW2 in 1945. This was a long conflict which involved the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy, as well as military support personnel and civilians.
Because of the great destruction at the end of World War II, when many of these medals were carelessly discarded, lost, damaged, or destroyed, complete cased examples of the China Incident War Medal are highly collectible to connoisseurs of Imperial Japanese military history and to collectors of WW2 military awards and decorations.
