Description

Extremely rare WW2 German G41 semi-automatic rifle, maker code duv (Berlin-Lübecker), dated ’43. All-matching example in 8mm with original leather sling manufactured by Koch & Benning, Wuppertal. Museum-quality piece for advanced militaria collectors — Near Mint overall condition and strong provenance.

This is an original World War II German G41 semi-automatic rifle, maker-coded duv (Berlin-Lübecker), dated 1943. Chambered in 8×57mm Mauser (8mm), this example is a rare, early wartime production and presents as an all-matching rifle with original components and a correct period leather sling by Koch & Benning — Wuppertal.

The metal surfaces retain honest wartime finish and patina appropriate to age; the wood stock is sound and shows normal service wear consistent with a military field piece but remains crisp with attractive grain. All major parts (receiver, bolt, barrel, trigger group and stock furniture) show matching or consistent serialing as expected for a museum-quality, all-matching example. Sling is original and maker-marked.

This rifle is offered as a historic collectible. Please review all photos carefully — they are part of the description. Additional high-resolution images and closeups are available on request.

History

The Gewehr 41 (commonly written G41 or G-41) was Germany’s early wartime attempt to field a reliable semi-automatic infantry rifle. Developed in the late 1930s and entering limited service in the early 1940s, the G41 family represents an important transitional weapon between bolt-action service rifles and later fully successful designs (such as the G43). G41 rifles used complex gas-operation systems and were produced in relatively small numbers by a handful of firms — many examples bear wartime factory codes rather than full maker names; your example is marked (duv) with a 1943 date and is chambered for the standard German service cartridge (8mm).

The G41 occupies an important place in WWII small-arms history because it shows the German arms industry’s efforts to mechanize the infantry rifle without immediately adopting simpler reliable systems. By 1943 production experience and combat feedback pushed German designers toward the G43 (which adopted a simpler, more reliable gas system). A 1943 duv G41 therefore represents a late-war example of these early semi-automatic trials and is of particular interest to collectors who focus on development, maker variation, and wartime production codes.
