Description:

This Original German Verwundetenabzeichen Wound Badge in Black made by Werner Redo in Saarlauten.

This wound badge is a quality example, and is in excellent overall conditionmade of steel.

This is an authentic Original German Verwundetenabzeichen (Wound Badge) in Black, manufactured by the well-known maker Werner Redo of Saarlautern. The badge displays crisp, well-defined detail throughout, with strong strike quality typical of Redo production.

The blackened finish remains largely intact, showing honest period wear consistent with age and use, while still retaining excellent visual appeal. The characteristic helmet, crossed swords, and wreath details are sharply rendered, making this an attractive example of the Black grade wound badge, which was awarded for a single wound or injury sustained in combat.

The reverse is maker marked “Werner Redo – Saarlautern”, confirming originality and correct period manufacture. The hardware configuration is correct, with a solid pin and catch assembly that remains intact and functional.

Overall, this is a very nice, original example of a German Black Wound Badge by Werner Redo, desirable to collectors for its identifiable maker, strong condition, and historical significance.
