Range Graduations: The rear tangent sight is explicitly marked with numbers for odd increments: 1 (100m), 3 (300m), 5 (500m), 7 (700m), and 9 (900m).
Intermediate Stops: There are physical click-stops between the numbered markings for the even-numbered ranges (e.g., stopping between 1 and 3 sets the elevation for 200 meters, between 3 and 5 sets it for 400 meters, and so forth).
Adjustment Value: To adjust the setting, you lift up on the tangent slide and slide it to the desired range slot. Each individual notch or stop along the slider corresponds to two minutes of angle (MOA).

Description
This Original U.S. Johnson Automatics Model 41 Caliber 30-06 Semi-Auto Rifle is in Excellent Condition. The Serial numbers are non-matching throughout as they were not matched at the factory at the time of manufacture. Bbl. 22". Barrel is marked on top over chamber "J.A. / .30-06". Markings enhanced in white. Additionally marked with the Dutch "sword" acceptance mark at bottom of chamber. Barrel serial number "2383K" matches the barrel extension. Barrel equipped with bayonet lug. Adjustable aperture rear sight graduated to 1,000 meters. Blade front sight with protective ears. Receiver is marked on the right side with Cranston Arms Co. in inverted triangle and the tiny "star" Dutch acceptance mark. Receiver markings on top include "'JOHNSON AUTOMATICS' / MODEL OF 1941 / MADE IN PROVIDENCE, R.I. U.S.A. CAL. 30-06 SEMI-AUTO.
Includes Original Rare 1941 Johnson bayonet with leather scabbard and frog.The bayonet has some wear and loss of finish, particularly on the raised surfaces of the triangular blade There is no handle but the bayonet has been tested and it will fit securely onto an original Johnson rifle. The scabbard and frog are intact, with only a small hole towards the tip of the scabbard. There is mild age-related wear but no other noticeable damage. The upper frog is stamped with the serial number 4218. The leather is flexible and not brittle. Overall in excellent condition.
History
" The recoil operated Johnson rifle became involved in a heated controversy as to whether it should have been adopted instead of the M1 Garand. Ultimately, the Garand prevailed, but the Johnson rifle did have certain advantages including ease of manufacture and being less prone to gas fouling. It also featured a 10-round rotary magazine which was easily refilled when partially emptied with the weapon remaining in a loaded condition. In 1941, the Netherlands ordered 70,000 Johnson rifles for use in the Dutch East Indies. Many if not most of these rifles did not reach the East Indies and some of the remaining contract was taken up by the United States Marine Corps. Two-piece walnut stock set. Buttstock is of the later three-piece production. Fine checkered buttplate. Lever type safety ahead of trigger guard.
Condition
This rifle has been attractively restored. The finish has very light wear and a small number of scattered handling marks. The metal retains 95% of its arsenal rework parkerized finish. The bore is Very Shiny with sharp lands.
