Description
Very Rare Original German Waffen SS Italian Camouflage Winter Parka Produced in 1943.
The bitter winters of the Eastern Front in 1941-42 caught the Germans off guard, lacking adequate cold-weather gear. Recognizing this shortfall, the OKH prioritized the development of heavier winter clothing in spring 1942. By mid-1943, the M43 fur-lined winter parka was introduced, boasting a full-length button-up front closure for added insulation.
Crafted from Italian camo cloth, this M43 parka epitomizes the adaptation efforts during WWII. Named after its use by SS units during Operation Fredericus in 1942 in the Charkow (Kharkov) and Donbas regions, it showcases the strategic utilization of Italian cloth in mid-to-late war SS uniforms.
Constructed with meticulous detail, the parka features Italian Camouflage cotton poplin and standard pebbled field grey army buttons for the front closure, accompanied by an overlapping wind flap for added protection. Its integral hood, lined with fur and grey viscose, ensures warmth even in the harshest conditions, while the fleece-lined oversized hood accommodates a helmet seamlessly.
Despite its combat-worn appearance, this parka remains in excellent condition, sized approximately 52 European, a testament to its durability and functionality amidst the rigors of WWII warfare.
